A 100% natural aura and space mist crafted with sacred herbs and raw resins for preparation before ritual work and divination. The concentrated botanical blend is designed to reset and protect the energetic field, clear the body, space, and unseen energy between, and open the senses for heightened perception and intuition. This is a ritual preparation spray, not a perfume. Also available with a Divination Cloth.
FRAGRANCE
A bright, herbaceous, uplifting blend of sage, mugwort, bay laurel, frankincense, myrrh, blue lotus, and lavender. Sacred sage provides a dry, aromatic, clarifying center, with bitter, green mugwort running through the heart and bay laurel adding a quiet, focused intensity. Frankincense and myrrh resins anchor the herbs, while calming traces of blue lotus and lavender quiet internal noise.
AURA & ENERGY CLEANSING
The botanicals are selected for their historical use in ritual, visioning, and perceptual work. In this ritual context, sage, mugwort, and blue lotus are associated with energy cleansing, opening the third eye, and creating a protected energetic boundary for meditation, dreamwork, or divination practice.

Spray before tarot or oracle readings, meditation or third-eye work, journaling or manifestation practices, dreamwork or sleep, mind-body practices, and creative flow-state work, or whenever perception feels clouded or unfocused.
The botanicals are traditionally used to sharpen perception and support intuitive work. Centered on sacred sage and layered with raw resins, the mist creates a clean, quiet atmosphere for ritual preparation. Heretic built the formula around plants associated with revelation rather than comfort, with each material selected for a function rather than decoration.
BOTANICALS & RESINS
SACRED SAGE: Dry, aromatic, and clarifying, sacred sage sits at the center of the formula alongside clary sage, long associated with protection and “clear seeing.”
MUGWORT: One of the oldest herbs used in divination and dreamwork. Its bitter, green character runs through the heart of the formula, with a slightly disorienting quality intended to shift perception beyond the ordinary.
BAY LAUREL: Once used in ancient oracle rituals, bay laurel adds a quiet, focused intensity.
FRANKINCENSE & MYRRH: Resins burned for centuries to steady the mind while opening awareness beyond it.
BLUE LOTUS: A trace of blue lotus is included for its ritual association with softening the threshold and opening the third eye.
LAVENDER: Used sparingly for its calming character and role in quieting internal noise.

The collection explores the fading of daylight as a time for the senses to awaken and for a return to oneself. The spray is intended for rituals and moments of intention during the quiet hours of the night.

Can I return perfume?
Not really. It's important to test the perfume before you buy. We sell samples of nearly every perfume, so you can test it on your skin before you buy it, or you can come into the shop to try perfumes for free. Once you purchase a fragrance, it's yours forever.
Are your perfumes safe?
All perfumes sold at The Marie-Marie meet the highest safety standards in the world through the regulation of all cosmetic products sold in the European Union. Independent testing is performed regularly, and standards are updated yearly. All perfumes must meet these standards to be sold legally in this region. We work with each brand to ensure these standards are met and continue to be met yearly.
Can I book a private consultation?
Yes. Our private consultations require a $300 non-refundable deposit per person per hour, which applies to the fragrances you select that day or in the future. You will have the store to yourself, led by your dedicated perfume expert, who will guide your experience. The consultation is limited to parties of three people and two hours maximum.
When will Marie-Marie be in the store?
Our precious mascot, Marie-Marie, is learning how to be a shop dog and how to behave like a lady. This means she will be in the store a few hours a week until she can handle the excitement. If you are lucky, you might see her soon.

About us
Not Our First Rodeo
Nicole has been working in fragrance since the 1990s at department stores and with her own line of candles. She opened her first perfume store in 2008 in Seattle and then a satellite location as a shop-in-shop here in Portland. Nicole and Henry are perfumers on their own and distribute many of the brands sold at The Marie-Marie.
Who is Marie-Marie
Marie-Marie Tropicana Spider Aesoph is Nicole and Henry's French Bulldog and our store mascot. She is one year old, small for her breed, with a blocky head, a funny long body, and a pouty lower lip. She likes eating farm-fresh greens and can have up to eight blueberries a day. She also loves perfume. We hope you get to meet her soon.

The Marie-Marie is dedicated to Downtown Portland. We got lucky and found this perfect little store already set up to be a perfume store, so we added a coat of paint, and we're here to stay. We can't wait to meet you all and can't wait for you to wear your new fragrances to the next wrestling match, naked bicycle ride, rose garden walk, or just to stay at home and binge-watch Battlestar Galactica for the third time.
